Battles of the Mind
Reaching out into darkness,
Timid, shy.
Afraid of the unknown.
Is someone there?
What will they think?
Shrinking back,
Fear of rejection,
Fear of acceptance.
If I let go of it all
What will happen,
What will change?
Do I dare?
Or should I just stay right here
Cooped up safe yet insecure
In my little shell
Away from the world,
Away from help,
Away from the light.
